OBSIDIAN SKI CLUB TO CHOSE NEW NAME

Feeling that the Ski Club has reached maturity and should have an independent government and existence, the Obsidian Board voted Tuesday evening that it was best since the Ski Club planned to incorporate, that it be done under some name different from that of the parent club. The vote was taken after a joint meeting of the Chiefs and Princesses, at which considerable sentiment was expressed for complete amalgamation of the two clubs, but no plan regarded by the Board as workable was presented

Contrary to the opinion of some, the Board felt that there is ample room in Eugene for two winter out door organizations. The Ski Club will strive for a large membership while the Obsidian membership has always stayed near one hundred.

It was pointed out that the two groups could work together better as distinct organizations than with responsibilities divided between them, resulting in possible confusion.

It is anticipated that there will be considerable interlocking membership between the two clubs, the change of name making no difference in that respect.

On May 7th, the Ski Club will have a banquet at the Cafe Del Rey, in the upstairs dining room. Election of Board of Directors for the coming year and the showing of moving pictures taken at Bohemia, and on the two snow trains will be some of the main highlights of the evening. All Ski Club members are urged to attend. The time is set for 6:30 o'clock. Dr. C.D.Donahue is chairman of the committee making the arrangements.
