ANNUAL MEETING

The Annual Meeting of the Obsidians was held this year again at the Four Oaks Grange Hall. A total of 70 Obsidians and friends attended, and once more enjoyed a very fine dinner, served by the ladies of the Grange.

Balloting for Directors was done prior to the dinner, and after dinner, the Club was called to order by President Keasling. Committee chairmen were called on, and gave their reports on the Year's activities of the club. One Amendment to the Constitution was discussed and voted on. The results of the balloting for officers was read, and the following were declared elected as the Board of Directors for the year 1949-50:

The new Board met soon after the election, and the following officers were chosen, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.

PICTURE CONTEST

The Annual Obsidian Picture Contest will be held Wednesday, November 9, at the River Road Women's Club, at the corner of River Road and Hillcrest Drive. It will begin at 7:30 PM. Be sure to be there and arrange to have displayed your best Obsidian pictures.

Rules for Entry

1. All members may enter the contest. Pictures taken on official Obsidian trips between November 1, 1948 and November 1, 1949, will be eligible for prizes.

2. All entries must be enlarged to 5 x 7 or larger, and must be mounted on appropriate mounts.

3. First and second prizes will be awarded for the best black and white pictures in the following classifications:
a. Landscapes Including Snow Scenes
b. Climbing And Skiing Activities
c. Plant And Animal Life
d. Human Interest

4. All black and white prize-winning pictures become the property of the club.

5. Each member may also enter two color slides in each of the above classifications. There will be two divisions of slides - according to their size; (1) Slides '35mm or Smaller' (2) Slides 'Larger than 35mm' (including whole, split or square 120's). In other words, '35mm or Smaller' slides will be judged separately from 'Larger than 35mm'. Therefore, the above four classifications will become eight, and eight first prizes will be awarded. The club does not keep these prize-winners.
