ANNUAL MEETING - FRIDAY - OCTOBER 14 1960

THE OBSIDIAN ANNUAL MEETING WILL BE HELD AT THE EUGENE WATER AND ELECTRIC BOARD BUILDING - OCTOBER 14, 1960, at 6:30 P.M., AS A POTLUCK DINNER WITH THE VOTING BEFORE THE DINNER. ALL MONEYS MUST BE TURNED IN TO THE TREASURER BY SEPTEMBER 30TH - ALL COMMITTEE REPORTS AT THE ANNUAL MEETING ... PLAN NOW TO ATTEND.

REGULAR BOARD MEETING AUGUST 4, 1960

The August meeting of the Obsidian Board of Directors was held at the home of Tom and Janet Taylor, 3635 Donald St. Tom opened the meeting by presenting a book on the Bohemia Mines given in consideration of the Obsidian trips there. A letter from the Richland Club wishing advice on liability insurance on trips was read.

Gerry read the minutes of the July Meeting.

Jim Jeppesen reported for the Climbing Committee - the three climbs made have had very good attendance - 40 on the "tenderfoot climb" of the South Sister led by Pat Remele and Betty Harris. 34 were on the Middle Sister with Mel Jackson as leader. Three Fingered Jack had 30 - about 8 or 10 with Norm Lee put up the ropes and then later Jim Jeppesen, with Jim Sims as assistant, put
20 on Jack's summit.

It is hoped to have a climb of Hood later - either in September or October.

Membership by Kay - two new Juniors, Paul Guanlania and Charla Eubanks were voted in as members.

Anna reported that 56 attended the July picnic at Myrtie Hamlin's.

Karl Onthank reported that the Obsidians were one of two clubs having their resolutions in to the F.W.O.C. committee on time. News was brought that John & Mrs. Bovard will celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary on September 1, 1960. John was the Obsidians' first President. Mike McCloskey was to get the ideas to present to the F.W.O.C. from Karl and Tom.

Ray Cavagnaro reported bills - Bob Medill $6 for stamps - $10 dues to the F.W.O.C. - and Tom $50. These were ordered paid.

New business - Jim was to see if the deed to our property was filed - so taxes will be separate this year.

Those present: Tom Taylor, Gerry Fehly, Lorena Reid, Kay Fahy, Jim Jeppesen, Karl Onthank, Mike McCloskey, Anna Jeppesen, Mike Stahl, Ray Cavagnaro, and Ray Sims. Mike Stahl read the constitution noting the new changes.

Next meeting at Mike Stahl's, Sept. 1, '60.

It has been noted by the Climbing committee that any member having completed their TEN PEAKS - please notify Jim Jeppesen before the Annual Meeting.

SEPTEMBER POTLUCK

There will be a FALL POTLUCK DINNER on Friday, September 16, at EWEB Building. - 6;30 P.M. All members and friends are invited.

SEPTEMBER 1 BOARD MEETING

The regular September Obsidian Board Meeting was held at the home of Mike & Dorothy Stahl on September 1st.

Those present - Tom Taylor, Gerry Fehly, Gene Renard, Jim Jeppesen, Anna Jeppesen, Kay Fahy, Lorena Reid, Karl Onthank, Mike McCloskey, Ray Cavagnaro, Donn Chase, Mike Stahl and Ray Sims.

Tom opened the meeting and Gerry read the minutes of the August meeting.

Kay reported five new Junior members and one Senior - Peter Pomeroy, Mark McLaughlin, Jack Whitney, Bob Hasek, and Norman Hasek - Juniors, and Barbara Hasek as an active Senior. Steve Hadley was advanced to Senior member.

A discussion concerning the Youth Committee - a report that the Obsidians were not doing enough for the advanced Scout Troop that we sponsor - but after a general discussion - it seems that more has been done to encourage the boys in our activities than usual - three of the group of eight have climbed the mountains with us and at least one has joined the club.

Building Committee reported by Gene, that the survey - locating the property lines
