Trip Report

We hiked up the trail approximately a mile and a half before beginning our trail maintenance work. Since French Pete is in a designated wilderness, we are unable to use our chain saw so most of our work was done with sna-viks, bow saws and pruners. The larger trees will be contracted out later in the summer. We concentrated our efforts on a section of the trail on the south side of the creek before stopping for lunch at one of the many campsites. After a short lunch break we worked on the north side for another hour and a half before calling a halt to a full day of hard work. The hard work by Pete Cecil, Wilbur Groner, Leona Mattson, and Paula Vehrs was greatly appreciated by the leader Mike Wight.
