Trip Report

The climb progressed at an easy pace on a clear, but cool morning with the snowfields very firm and hard, requiring some rock scrambling to avoid the steep snow sections. Arrived at the summit at noon for a leisurely lunch and then down across softening snow where a few good glissades were enjoyed. On to Heart Lake where a few enjoyed a refreshing quick dip; then down to base camp near Sunshine. Incoming clouds provided a beautiful red sunset which turned into heavy rain and wind during the night, but stopped in the morning for a cool trip back to the cars via Obsidian Falls. This fine group of climbers included Blair Allen, Doris Allen, Jan Baker, Rick, Sally and Spike Grosscup, John Jacobsen, Marty Lewis, Mary Ann Karonis, Cindy Meares, Connie Spangler and leader Glenn Meares.
