Trip Report

After camping at the PCNST trail access parking lot, we started for Mt. Washington at 7:00 a.m. sunday. When we had been on the Crest Trail about an hour, and had failed to find the climbers trail because of the snow, we took off for the north ridge through the trees. Eventually we reached the ridge which was bare of snow only on the very top with 15 to 20 foot drifts on the east. Snow in chute to base of pinnacle made going difficult and slow.

We climbed the pinnacle in record time and returned to the saddle because of threatening weather and a little far away thunder, but no rain and even some sun. Returned to the cars by 6:30 after a long and difficult climb. Reaching the summit were George Jobanek, Margaret Crosland, Christine Ligneau, Connie Spangler and leader Lee Hatch.
