Trip Report

The Entertainment chairperson had special reason to be thankful even before the Thanksgiving potluck had begun. After all, she'd had a visit from John Cecil, who wasn't even planning on attending, and had been served tea by some delightful neighbors across the road. All this because she'd locked herself out of the lodge at ten minutes after one. But our gallant ex-president hastened over with a key, and by the time the pilgrims had congregated at two p.m. everything appeared to be normal.

After tatting a few moments to reflect upon their blessings, the participants warmed up their pipes with two stanzas of "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and joined hands while guest Dave Hooker (Dorothy Medill's grandson) said grace. They then sat down to a wonderful repast.

About a dozen of us were having too much fun to leave, so we broke out some games after dinner. One table played cards while my table played Trivial Pursuit. Or tried to, I should say. My team didn't just lose - it was utterly shallacked. This is what happens when you play against the likes of Ms.______. You know who you are, dear!

Special thanks go to Paula Vehrs, who prepared turkey, dressing and gravy, to Janice Pattison and the Otto family for setting up tables, and to Boyd Morgan, who carved the bird. Approximately forty people attended; potluck grossed $75.50.
