Trip Report

We started this long weekend by driving to camp at Diamond Lake Friday evening. Our climb of Mt. Thielsen started at 6:30 a.m. over a new trail that goes north of the mountain and covers part of the Pacific Crest Trail. We were on the summit by 11:00, and after some time on top resting, viewing, and enjoying our accomplishment, were back at the cars by 4:00 p.m. Saundra returned home as Jerry, Linda and Lee drove through Crater Lake Park to the Mt. McLoughlin Trailhead. We started this climb at 6:30 a.m. and were on the summit of a very snow-covered mountain at 10:15. Returned to car at 1:30 and started the long drive home.
