Trip Report

Another year and another Broken Top/South Sister marathon. Both climbs went very well because of a great group. Times were very similar to previous years. It’s very important to be on top of Broken Top by 3:00. Why the rush? Well, in that time frame we are able to get to my favorite swimming hole before 6:00 for a nice "warm" afternoon swim and have a leisurely supper before sunset. Sunday went equally smooth. Tim made the summit in 2 hrs. 18 min. Try that sometime! The rest of us trekked to the top at 11:10 and later. After a very pleasant one hour or so on the summit, we did the West Rim scenic route on the way down, and were at base camp at about 3:30. Climbers were Jeff Boersema, Adam Hall, Joshua Ladau, Julia Sunkler, Anne Turner, Tim Verkler and Ed Lovegren (leader).
