Trip Report

Drove to Frog Camp from Eugene, arriving about 5:00 pm. Arrived at Scott Springs about 7:30. Made camp for night on bench above springs. Trip in quite warm, temperature above 80°.

Got up at 5:00 am Sunday, overcast sky with some breaks. Left camp at 6:30, climbing up to Upper Collier Glacier. Turned south across saddle to north-west ridge of Middle Sister. Good steps at 50° snow field approximately 9,500 ft. elevation. Summited 10:41, clouds 25%, blue sky 75%. Remained on summit about half-an-hour, ate lunch. Two Mazama groups on summit at the same time. Returned to camp via Renfrew Glacier. Day was quite warm, snow soft coming down (not much glissading). Arrived camp approximately 2:30 pm, packed up and left for trailhead by 3:10. Some thunder and buildups to north of North Sister on east side of divide. Arrived at Frog Camp 5:00; clouds and buildups had dissipated, sky clear approximately 100° at trailhead. Hot. Drove to Eugene.

Great group, no complaints about the unusually hot weather by David Becker, Ed Lovegren, Laura Metcalfe, Chris Miller and leader Bill Johnson.
