Trip Report

Twenty-five Obsidians and eight guests traveled via I-5 to Portland, stopping for coffee and goodies before arriving at the Portland Art Museum. We arrived early, so had plenty of time for viewing the exquisite art. The detail, beauty, variety of items and art mediums all contributed to the splendor. After viewing the Japanese exhibit many of us had time to enjoy the 85-piece Grandma Moses exhibit. Quite a contrast! Our plan was to enjoy a picnic lunch while viewing the gorgeous rose gardens, but there was no parking so we lunched in Washington Park. We spent a very tranquil two hours in the Japanese Gardens viewing the five types of gardens. They were beautiful. We boarded the bus at 3:00 p.m. for our return trip, missing any major highway snarls. It was more difficult for riders to get back to South Eugene due to the Jefferson Street Bridge construction. A good time was had by all.
