Trip Report

Ben Jeffries had done the planning for the trip, but health problems prevented him from going, so Liz Reanier took his place. Leaving Shopko - Coburg Rd, we drove I-5 to Oregon City, with our coffee break at the Santiam rest stop. We arrived in Sandy (Hwy 212)at Calamity Janes, famous for burgers of all types. After a leisurely lunch, we back-tracked to Boring - home of Guide Dogs for the Blind. We had a tour of their facilities and at 1:30 attended the graduation ceremony where the persons who raised the dog - give it to the blind recipient (who has just completed 2 weeks of intensive training). A reception followed - where we could visit the dogs and the trainees. At 3 p.m., we started home, driving Hwy 211 back to Woodburn (hoping to see fields of tulips) - NONE! then I-5 back to Eugene. All had a great day.
