Trip Report

This was the second day of a "Jobanek Memorial Two-fer". This day wasn't quite so breezy as the previous. There have been two recent trail projects completed along the PCT: The trail from the Youth Camp has been rerouted a bit so that it now "tees" with the PCT, and a short stretch of the PCT has been rerouted west a bit to abandon a rutted part. Both are nice improvements. We were to the saddle at 9:00, and all on the summit by 11:00. We spent about an hour on top enjoying the mild temperatures, gentle breeze and fantastic views. Surprisingly, there were no other climbers on the mountain that day! Then came the crux of the climb - getting safely onto the scree trail. We met half of the Blumm group on their way from McKenzie Pass to the Big Lake-PCT trailhead, and were back to the cars at 5:00. Thanks to my assistant, Mark, for ensuring a smooth climb.

Climbers were members Marianne Camp, Wayne Deeter (leader), Dave Jensen and Mark Slipp; and nonmember Marci Hansen.
