**IMPORTANT: We will be meeting at the Willamette & 52nd parking lot for this outing. Please park on 52nd and walk to the trailhead.**

The City has asked that we change the task for the outing to clearing the Ridgeline, Tie, and Main and West Summit trails of storm damage. We are still meeting at the Willamette & 52nd parking lot.

Trip Report

The sudden winter storm we experienced last week that dropped 6 to 8 inches of snow was more than a lot of trees along the trails in the Ridgeline system could handle. The downed trees nearly made the Ridgeline between Willamette & 52nd impassible.

We met Christer LaBrecque & Josh Schrader of Eugene Parks and Open Space to begin to clear and fix the trails. We took handsaws to cut back branches & small trees and metal leafs rakes, steel rakes, & Terra hoes to remove muck, moss, bark, twigs, and other debris from the trail as well as clear drains. We broke into 2 groups at the Willamette & 52nd trailhead. Janet, Ed, and Clara went with Josh to clear as much as they could of the Ridgeline towards Blanton Heights. They encountered a lot of work including 2 maple trees that fell intertwined.

The rest of the grouped hiked up the Ridgeline to the Tie Trail. At which we divided into 2 more groups. Lana, Jyoti, Michael, Todd, & Mark went with Christer to begin clearing the Tie and Summit Trails. A tree fell on the Tie Trail really close to theRidgeline that was too big for Christer to cut with his saw. Larry, Pat, Nola, & Dan went with Matt to the Fox Hollow trailhead and worked their way back towards the Tie Trail.

We got all got a lot done but there is definitely still more to do.
