Trip Report

Our work to improve the Tie Trail continued this month. After meeting up at the Fox Hollow trailhead we hiked up the Tie Trail to continue to clear and improve drainage. Our group of volunteers worked to clean the drainage ditches on the uphill sides of the sections of raised turnpike as well as clear the downhill drainage channels. This work included Jim and Janet working very hard to try to re-establish drainage that had multiple logs fall on it during the bad winter storms during the past few years. Dan worked to bury rocks in a wet spot of the trail to create a surface that will shed water rather than collect it.

Autumn, Chyanne, and Roberta worked to deberm the outside edges of the trail so that water will drainoff and not be caught causing puddles and mud holes.

We worked along the Tie Trail all the way to the junction with the Main Spencer Butte Trail getting the trail in pretty good shape for the summer and early fall.
