Trip Report

The 2014 Basic Climbing School Snow Field Session was held on the west side of Hayrick Butte, in Santiam Pass, under a perfect clear blue sky. 22 students and 8 assistants enjoyed a full day on steep slopes practicing self arrest, anchor building, roped travel, communication, belaying and cravasse travel.
