Description:

For the upcoming trail maintenance work party we will work with City staff to remove a section of fence from the summit of the butte. We will also clean the trailhead & kiosk.

Trip Report

This outing was a special treat. Years after their installation, we were able to help with the very first removal of the barrier fencing from the park. And, it happened to be from the butte's summit!

We hiked up the butte to the summit using the newly completed summit portion with the Natural Resources new staff member Deverton Cochran. After admiring all the work that was completed by Oregon Woods we hiked back down to tree line to pick up the pieces of barrier fencing (posts and rails) and carry them back down to the parking lot. We were able to pack out all but 2 posts.

Along their ways up and down Roberta, Autumn, and Chyanne picked up litter from along the trail.

One other cool occurance was coming across a gopher snake waiting patiently for us to pass so that it could cross the trail.
