Description:

This is a CONDITIONING HIKE and meant to be arduous with a quick pace and weighted packs. We will try to stay as a group, but different personal paces could mean separation; in which case, we will regroup at agreed to locations depending on the hike, the group, and comfort levels.
Hike specifics may change each week (ie: starting trailhead, route, etc)

Meet at 52nd and Willamette trailhead (998ft is difference in elevation between TH and top of the butte). I plan to follow the trail around to the Spencer Butte TH, up the short/steep way, down the "standard" path, and back to the cars (or another lap up the steep way if we're making good time!). Weighted packs are encouraged. This is a good place to test packs or other new climbing gear.

Trip Report

People packed between 10 and 40 pounds and got a good workout. Car to car in less than 2 hours including a break at the top and a bit of route miscommunication. Great group!
