Description:

Correction: 25th & University by the gate/kiosks, Be prepared for a steady uphilll push for the first 30-40 minutes. Meet at the Masonic Cemetery, 25tth and University, main gate. From there we will hike trails in the Cemetery, then on city streets to the Ribbon Trail, Obsidian Lodge, Hendricks Park. We will loop back by 19th & Agate before we take a direct route back to our cars. The route is one we did in 2014. I scouted it on Monday and the elevation and mileage could be more.

Trip Report

Within a few minutes after our departure from the Masonic Cemetery main gate, we spotted a groundhog hiding by the Woodsmen of the World Monument. The shy groundhog seemed more interested in the squirrels than Obsidian hikers.,Another surprise was a large grave plot covered snowdrop flowers. We then headed up to the Obsidian Lodge and over to Hendricks Park ending back at Allann Brothers. We enjoyed drinking coffee with Bert Ewing, long time Obsidian, who shared stories and photos of climbs, goats, and marmots.
