Description:

Climb steadily via a forested trail passing the headwaters/spring feeding Lost Creek until we reach the ridge between Mt. June and Hardesty Mt. There are great views along this ridge of Mt. June, Bohemia Mtn and the Calapooya range. Sawtooth Rock is a 50 ft. monolith with a cave in its base on the north side.

Trip Report

The weather cooperated by NOT raining on us, except for a light 5-minute drizzle just before reaching Sawtooth Rock. The clouds lifted enough to see Mt. June & some of the ridges to the south from Sawtooth. It was too slippery on the back of Sawtooth to safely reach the caves. There were still several patches of snow in the headwater basin of Lost Creek. Only a few wildflowers were seen: Trilliums, Snow Queen, wood violets & hairy manzanita. It was a good early spring workout hike.
