Trip Report

We had sporadic cloudbursts on the hike in and sporadic sunbursts on the way out. The following trip report is written by 10 year old hiker Tatum Zola.

On Saturday, April 22, Earth Day, I had the pleasure of going on an Obsidian hike. The one-hour car ride was a very easy drive and the hike itself was also not difficult. One of my favorite parts of the hike was seeing all the waterfalls, especially the last one. During the hike I also learned about many different plants such as the skunk cabbage, deer fern, and the trillium flower. My group had nine people, all of whom were very nice and outgoing. Our leader Joella was very good at pointing out the kinds of plants and animals too. The entire hike was about one-and-a-half hours long. On the drive back we stopped at Our Daily Bread restaurant, a cute little church turned into an eating place. It had soups, salads and sandwiches. I had a grilled cheese and for dessert a hazelnut chocolate torte, which was huge and which I shared with everyone who wanted some. In all, I really enjoyed the hike with the Obsidians and I can't wait to do it again soon.
