Description:

Great hike through a mix of forest and meadows to an open summit with an old lookout and views of The Husband, The Wife, Middle & South Sister... I have counted 44 different species of wildflowers on this hike in July a few years ago! We will hike at a moderate leisurely pace (1.5 mph?) so we can enjoy the flowers and lunch on the summit.
**Drivers will need a USFS Pass.
**Passengers should offer driver additional $1 to compensate for Forest Pass permit.

Trip Report

With blue skies and perfect temperatures our group of 10 enjoyed a pleasant hike through forest and meadows to the summit of Olallie Mtn. The fire lookout is still standing (along with it's rusting metal folding chair) but now has holes in the walls and is more dilapidated that a year ago. We identified 41 different flowers along the trail and enjoyed great views of the Three Sisters. On the way out we stopped to enjoy a rest break where we could commune with the huge "mother tree" found along this trail (GPS coordinates: N43*57.193 & W122*03.035') **The lower half of this trail has lots of vegetation overgrowth!! Long pants recommended!
