Description:

The Wild Iris Ridge Park has a new trail which provides access from Bailey Hill Road. The December ice storm delayed completion ot the trail and we still might find one short muddy section. I think it will be easiest to meet at Target and car pool over because the trailhead parking is limited. After a short walk in on an access road, the trail climbs steadily through oak woodlands. Almost all of the climbing is in this first mile. Then we'll swing around on a loop of a grassy old road and eventually meet our original path and head to the trailhead. Wild Iris Ridge is actually part of the Ridgeline system but for now, without the heavy use other parts receive.

Trip Report

It was a pleasant morning checking out the new trail at Wild Iris Ridge. The area had suffered heavy damage in the winter ice storm and we saw lots of oak and madrone limbs on the ground. But the trails were clear and spring flowers were in bloom. Houndstongue, fawn lily and, of course, wild Iris. The plantings done by Obsidians on trail maintenance seem to be doing well and are keeping erosion at the bridges in check.
