Get Acquainted 2nd Ribbon Trail Hike

Description:

The Obsidian Publicity Committee is sponsoring two Get Acquainted hikes on National Trails Day for guests. Meet at the Obsidian Lodge to hike on the Ribbon Trail to Hendricks Park. This is an opportunity to find out about the Obsidians, get acquainted with members, and visit our lodge. See the flyer on the home page for directions and map to the lodge.
(Drive past the Laurelwood Golf Course, turn right on Spring Blvd, go approx. two blocks. Just after Essex turns left, Spring Blvd dead ends at a private gravel driveway. Turn left and immediately look for the Obsidians Inc. sign and gate(driveway) to your right. Enter the driveway and follow the gravel road to the parking areas and lodge. Trip Report

Seven members greeted seven guests at the Obsidian lodge for the 2:00 afternoon Ribbon Trail hike to Hendricks Park. During introductions guests mentioned that for "years" they had wanted to find out about club. When they read about the Get Acquainted Hikes, they knew ti was time to find the lodge and learn about our hikes. After the hike lemonade and homemade applesauce bread refreshed while guests learned more about our historic lodge, hikes, and upcoming events. No one was in a hurry to depart. Our lodge chair, Dave Cooper, was the last one to leave locking the gate around 4:00. Guests found out about the hike from the Obsidian website flyer, the Y Bulletin Board, and the Register Guard Week-End guide published the day of the hike. Thanks to the members participated in the two Get Acquainted hikes and made it fun!
