Grade II, moderate to steep snow and glacier travel, possible short sections of ice climbing, altitude and rockfall hazard. Maximum signups listed at 6 but we may accept up to 2 more participants depending on the skill level of the group. $25 climbing permit required.

Trip Report

One of the more difficult routes up Mt Shasta, the Whitney Glacier route is remote and arduous. The long approach and many crevasses keep most climbers away but the stark beauty made it all worthwhile. All 3 team members were able to summit and then descend via the Hotlum Bolum route.
