Description:

Departure place: Lane County Fairgrounds Gate F by footbridge.

Description: Meet at the Lane County Fairgrounds at Gate F by footbridge, south of events center. Easiest parking is the lot on the south side of the footbridge accessed by taking 18th Street going west, and turning south/right past the Catholic School on Friendly Street. Carry cans on the 3 mile walk from the fairground to Food for Lane County at 770 Bailey Hill Road. Then we retrace our trips arriving back at the Fairgrounds for the Holiday Market and lunch.

Trip Report

Five of us set out at 9:25 on cool, overcast morning with four heavy backpacks and a dilapidated cart packed with cans and a few other items. According to Lane County Foods we carried a total of 76 lbs. of food. Round trip was about 5.7 miles with an elevation gain of about 75 ft. We made the entire round trip in about 2 hours. On the return trip we saw over a hundred Canada Geese grazing on the lawn at Cesar Chavez Middle School.
