Description:

This is our weekly aerobic hike starting at Martin Street Trailhead up to Spencer Butte. We start promptly so come a few minutes early to check in. Wear appropriate clothing for the weather. It is a steady pace varying from moderate to fast. Guests are welcome.
To get to the trailhead: Take West Amazon to Martin Street. Turn left. Drive past Kinney Park and park on Martin Street at the Kiosk sign board across from Canyon Drive Street sign with hiker symbol. One can take LTD Bus #28 to Martin Street. Please call the leader if any questions.

Trip Report

Only nine of us showed up for the hike on a day with the temperature in the upper 20s and snow level about 800 feet. I sent people off early rather than have everybody stand around. I was happy enough to finally get moving so I could try to get warm. From the Meadow to the top, the trail was icy, snow-packed and very slick. The rocks were so slippery that only three of us went to the top, where we had 3 inches of fresh snow and a beautiful, if foggy, scene. The descent was done very cautiously, and we all got down without incident.
