Description:

From the Crescent Lake Sno-park we will take the Pretty Lake Trail and ascend the east side of Redtop. We will plan to ski down either the east or north sides depending on conditions and group desire. It's possible we will loop back via Pretty Lake or possibly Fawn Lake. Mileage should be between 8 and 10 miles. Prepare for a long day and turns on the way down!
***Please check here the day before the trip to make sure it is a go. Lets hope for some more snow!!!*****
February 2nd update!!!!
I do plan on doing this trip on Sunday. Please beware that snow levels are VERY marginal. Be prepared for bare ground in the first mile or so. Skiing will be difficult with the low snow levels. Just pretend this is a late SPRING ski. Who knows, it might be the last ski of the season. I'll see all of those that don't mind a low snow adventure on Sunday!

Trip Report

Driving over Willamette pass toward Crescent Lake Sno-Park reminded our group of five how little snow there was this season, especially after a week of warm rainy weather. So we were pleasantly surprised to find just enough snow to strap on our skis right at the car and begin our ski to Redtop Mountain. Other than a couple of pine needle covered bare spots, the snow was continuous the entire way. We left the car at 9:00 AM and were on the summit right at noon. Lunch was eaten with views all around on this partly sunny, good weather day. With plenty of snow on the upper slopes, and spring-like snow conditions, it was all fun on the way back down. We were back to the car by 2:45 PM, where we soaked up the warmth of the afternoon sun while even more of the limited snow pack was melting before our eyes.
