Description:

UPDATE at 7:30am. I plan to walk down our steep hill and hopefully catch a bus. Make a safe decision for your situation. See you at 9:30. No need to come earlier than that. We will be walking in snow and avoiding slick spots and stairs. Or just meet us for chili.

National Chili Day is the 4th Thursday in February. To work up an appetite, we will hike up to Skinner Butte checking out the views, new trails, ivy removal, the letter O and E, and the eagle’s nest. By 11:15 we should be at Soup Nation near 5th Street Market. Trip Report

It snowed during the night but fortunately the roads were clear by the time our hike started at 9:30. Three chose to use the bus. We explored many trails and eventually made it to the top where a snowman greeted us. When Jane Hackett pointed out the bald eagle's nest in the snow covered tree, an eagle flew out and over us. That was special! Our last stops were the Big E and the O before we started down to the Soup Nation. Chili was not on the menu but there were so many interesting choices that no one complained. It was a satisfying conclusion to our celebration.
