Description:

NEW START TIME! Turn at the sign for West Summit Trailhead and follow pay fee signs. Look for the new fee box. I'll try to have my car in the row below so that it is easy for us to meet, sign up. etc. Depending on weather, I plan to take back trails to the summit, avoiding the main trail #1. Mileage and elevation could vary but around 6 miles to 7.4 at a steady pace. Estimated time is 3 hours so bring snacks. Once we reach the summit, you have the option of going back down on the main trail for total of 6 miles or continuing on to north trailhead for a total of 7.4 miles. Email me at jbjacobsen@comcast.net if you have questions. If you don’t have a Lane County pass allow time to purchase one at the new credit/debit card pay station by trailhead. No cash! To buy an annual pass and support the trails, check out the websites for Friends of the Buford Park ($50.00) or Mt. Pisgah Arboretum. ($50.00/$40.00 for seniors).

Trip Report

The faster group led by Dave Cooper hiked the lower section of Trail 4 meeting up with the two of us who took the shorter Trail 46 plus Carla and Lauren who took the main trail. The view of the snow capped mountain was spectacular. Estimated time for the entire hike was around 2 1/2 hours.
