Trip Report

We had a clear day in the mountains and 10 inches + of new snow on the road to Fuji Shelter. The good news was that the trail looked beautiful in snow, with no other tracks. The bad news was that we had to break a trail. The four of us established a good rotation, and we got to Fuji Shelter in about 2 1/2 hours. There was almost an igloo in front of the shelter from snow that fell off the roof, although conceivably somebody could have helped the process along. In any case, the views of Diamond Peak were great there and on the trail. We had lunch in the shelter, and then people and dogs started to show up. We had a nice broken trail on the way down and came down quickly. All of us were tired from the effort, but we finally got a successful snowshoe this year to Fuji Shelter!!
