Description:

We are designed to walk barefoot but evolved to shoe wearing creatures. Barefoot walking is candid way to feel the earth under your feet. Join me at Florence’s South Jetty on my second annual barefoot hiking experience. Let’s feel the sand!
Note: there are many health benefits and some risks associated with going barefoot. Please use common sense.
Carry sandals or (and) thick socks and use in case you are unable to handle sand under your feet.

Trip Report

Foggy and windy Sunday was just right for our cheerful shoeless group. We walked close to the high tide ocean when sand is compacted and easy to experience barefoot.
At midpoint we stopped near south jetty boulders for snack and dance with Vicky Hanson’s song which she wrote years ago:
I've got sand in my toes,
I've got sand in my nose,
I've got sand all over even in my pantyhose,
I've got sand in my hair,
I've got sand in my shoes,
And that's why I'm singing "The Sand Dune Blues".

After lunch in Florence’s old town our happy group returned to 85°F Eugene.
