Description:

We will carpool to the main trailhead on Willamette and hike to the summit picking up trash on the way. Our return will be mostly downhill to W. 52nd. Ave. The pace will be slow as we look for trash. Gloves and plastic bags will be provided.

Meeting place is the Ridgeline trailhead at W. 52nd. Ave. and Willamette.

Trip Report

Janet and I met at W. 52nd Street to begin our hike and, as we collected two bags of litter, were rewarded by numerous fawn lilies in bloom in the forest. We then drove to the main trail head. Janet had picked up litter, aka dog piles, on the previous Saturday’s trail maintenance work party and we were astonished and appalled by the large amount we found only 6 days later. We reached the foggy summit, passing many wild flowers on the way – widow grass, trillium, buttercups, shooting stars, calypso orchids, baby blue eyes, and more fawn lilies - and then had a quick walk back to the parking lot with only a few pieces of litter needing our attention.
