Post-Earth Day Litter Pick-up

Description:

Meet at the Spencer Butte main trailhead on Willamette (paved lot) and hike to the summit picking up litter on the way. The pace will be slow as we look for lliter. Gloves and plastic bags will be provided. Hopefully the Earth Day week-end crowds will leave no trace!

Optional: If some want to back to the 52nd Willamette Trailhead, we can organize a car shuttle.

Trip Report

Keen eyesight along with pails, scoops, plastic bags, and gloves boosted our collection of litter that included batteries, beverage containers, bits of candy wrappers, a condom, toilet paper, and dog poop. We were surprised how much less litter there was compared to Pat Soussan’s litter pick up on April 6th when we picked up 76 piles of dog poop. We even had time to identify some flowers, widow grass and woodland star. Tommy and Mike descended on the west trail while the rest of us headed down the main trail and on to the Willamette Trailhead for a car shuttle back to the Spencer Butte parking lot. It was a beautiful day to leave no trace.
