Description:

A great waterfall hike! Many are familiar with Salt Creek Falls but two more falls are to be found up the trail from this highway close fall. A short side trip goes to the base of Lower Diamond Creek Falls, a 100-foot cascade. Farther on is mossy, tumbling Fall Creek and another impressive fall. We can have lunch at Vivian Lake and follow the shore to get a view of Mt. Yoran. Rhodys usually bloom in June.

Trip Report

A rather mixed day hiking to Vivian Lake today. Sun on the rhodys, a little bit snow in the forest, rain on the lake, and then sun as we finished our hike. Clear skies when we left Eugene but that had changed by the time we got to Salt Creek Falls. Still pleasant under cloudy skies. We didn't work our way around to the far side of Vivian Lake because there would be no views of Mt Yoran today. After lunch in the light rain at the lake we returned but took the side loop to Lower Diamond Creek Falls. Then we couldn't go straight back to the cars without taking in a view of Salt Creek Falls.
