Description:

We will hike to the summit with it's splendid views, and perhaps a late lunch. The descent will be by way of a different trail to Waldo Meadows, then out .5 miles to the Salmon Lakes and Salmon Creek Falls before returning to the cars. The trail through the meadows could be a bit overgrown.

Please note the late start time. My hope is to get the soft late afternoon light during the return hike. For those who desire post hike refreshments, Brewers Union Local in Oakridge is a fine choice.

Trip Report

Took Waldo Mt. trail to summit. Beautiful, clear day with views of Mt. Hood to Diamond Peak along with Waldo Lake. Returned . by way of Winchester and Salmon Lakes trails through Waldo Meadows along with a short detour to Upper Salmon Lake and Salmon Creek Falls. All trails in fine shape. Some Huckleberry overgrowth on the approach to the meadows. A few mosquitoes, but not bad at all.
