Description:

One of Oregon's most scenic hikes. We'll start this loop hike at the Obsidian trailhead heading East where we'll make a quick stop at Four-in-One Cone before continuing on to join the PCT. We'll then head South to Opie Dilldock Pass where we'll make a short side trip up to the Collier Glacier viewpoint to have lunch. After lunch we'll continue West to the Obsidian trail and our trailhead. There will be an additional expense to cover the $10 cost of the Limited Entry permit.

Trip Report

Once again the hike to Opie Dilldock didn't disappoint the eleven hikers who joined this trip. The sky was unusually clear and a cool breeze kept the sunny day pleasant. We enjoyed our lunch at the Collier Cone viewpoint which overlooks the lake created by the retreating Collier Glacier. We then finished our hike by treking down the switchback trail from Opie Dilldock Pass and back to the parking area on the Obsidian Trail.
