Trip Report

Today, in so far year’s warmest (58°F) and prettiest day of the year, we hiked from Yaquina Bay lighthouse to the Yaquina Head lighthouse. What a great hike it ended up being!
We enjoyed blue skies, great visibility on the beach and wading the Little Creek. From Yaquina Head lighthouse and from the top of Salal Hill we saw eagles, whales and majestic surf crushing below. Whole area is spectacular.
We also stopped in well-kept Yaquina Head Interpretation Center, where we learned about lighthouse and the old time keepers.
At the end of very enjoyable 11.7 miles hike Vicky sang for us her Sand Dune Blues:
I've got sand in my toes,
I've got sand in my nose,
I've got sand all over even in my pantyhose,
I've got sand in my hair,
I've got sand in my shoes,
And that's why I'm singing "The Sand Dune Blues".

Before return to Eugene we stopped in Newport’s old town for an exceptional seafood lunch.
