Description:

Meeting Location: Springfield Target at 2750 Gateway St., Springfield, OR. We'll meet in the Target parking lot on the east side of the store near Buffalo Wild Wings. I have a grey minivan.

Join me on a walk through historic Brownsville, founded in 1853 (6 years before statehood) and where the movie Stand By Me was filmed. We’ll walk mostly on sidewalks about 6 miles past historical sites and up to a viewpoint at the cemetery. After the walk we’ll stop at a coffee shop for a snack. If we have time, we’ll stop at Living Rock Studio, a most curious place.

My plan is to get home by 3:00, plenty of time for the 6:30 potluck at the lodge. I suggest watching Stand By Me movie before the walk as we'll pass a few of the filming locations.

Great day, great group!! We walked about 6 miles in Brownsville and visited historical sites including Pioneer park, the mill race, Pioneer Cemetery, many old houses, Civil War memorial, Calapooia River, the old railroad shed and filming sites from the movie Stand by Me. We also stopped at the museum, a rock studio and a coffee shop. If interested I'll send you a map showing the route we followed.
