Description:

UPDATE: TIME CHANGE Pisgah is now open with Trail 1 and 7 open to the summit. We Look for us by my car a row or two down from the fee box at main gate. Sunset is at 7:24 and the Moonrise is at 7:13.

(Before the storm I planned for us to visit the bench in the arboretum with the Mary Oliver quote. She was a well known American poet in touch with the "march of the seasons" who died in January. I'll schedule a walk in the arboretum when the trails open—hopefully when the wildflowers are still in bloom.)

Trip Report

We cheered when we saw the full moon rise looming large as if it were another mountain next to the Sisters. The full moon ushered in the first day of spring as it did back in 2000 and will again in 2030. Rob Castleberry told us that the rare super worm moon phenomenon won’t happen again until the year 2144. The last time was 1905. Then we turned the other direction to watch the sunset. It was a warm evening—a joyful celestial watching.
