Trip Report

We hiked the Pacific Coast Trail from Cumming's Creek to the USFS Visitors Center for snacks; then up 700 vertical feet through 11 switchbacks to the summit shelter built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1937. We enjoyed a lunch break with a spectacular view of the coast line and Pacific Ocean. After descending to the visitor's center, we hiked the 2 mile 'Discovery Loop' on Cook's ridge and returned to parking area via the Pacific Coast Trail. Although it was a cloudy day, there was no rain and little wind.
