A fire in 2017 has opened up the trail and views making this hike a different experience than before however the view of the Three Sisters from the rocky summit is still very rewarding. We'll start at the Foley Ridge trailhead and have lunch on the 6300 foot summit then return back on the same trail.

Trip Report

This Saturday morning hike started with overcast sky's making us think that our hike to one of the Western Cascades best viewpoints was going to conclude without the hoped for views. The trail itself is in excellent condition having been cleared all the way to the 4.3 mile junction however after the junction the trail becomes difficult to follow with many fallen down blackened trees crossing the trail. As a result of the 2017 Separation Fire at least half of the trail is in the burn area. About a quarter mile before the summit we were back into a green forest with clear sky's. The view from the rocky summit was spectacular. We spent our lunch break trying to identify as many peaks as possible. After almost an hour on top we decided that it was time to head back down. It was an excellent day for a hike.
