Sutton Creek / Alder Dune

Description:

This is a pretty easy hike, with a little bit of dune hiking. We will do the Sutton Creek Loop (page 168 of Sullivan’s Coast book), leaving from the Holman Vista, with a detour to Alder Dune Campgroup for lunch by Dune or Alder Lake (and swimming if the weather permits). There are three bathrooms along the way, flush toilets at each of them.

Trip Report

We had perfect weather for this relatively easy walk along Sutton Creek, through the interdunal forest, along and through some dunes, to lunch at Dune Lake. It wasn't warm enough to swim, but that meant that the hike was cool and lovely. Small group with two new hikers who will make great new Obsidians!
