Meeting Pace: Lane County Fairgrounds Gate F/footbridge

Recommend that you park at the Fairgrounds on south side near foot bridge close to bike path. Gate F. There are two gates (E & F) south of the events center. F is the smaller one to the west. We will walk at a moderate pace on the Fern Ridge Bike Path to Bailey Hill Road and then north on Bailey Hill to Food for Lane County to donate our cans of food. We carried 78 pounds when we did this a few years ago. “Carrying each other by feeding others. “ It will take around 2 hours so perhaps lunch afterwards.

Trip Report

At the annual 'Carry Cans for Lane County Food' hike, ten of us delivered 64 lbs. of food by back-pack. We also donated about $90. We recieved an interesting tour of the LCF facility, observing how donations are sorted, preserved, and repacked for distribution. We were surprised to learn that LCF operates a refridgeration system of 3,400 sq. ft. equaling or exceeding the space of many local homes.
