Description:

Dave and I recently scouted part of the park using the City's online map for proposed trails. We found it a bit confusing but hope to learn more at the Dec 9 public meeting. Come out and get an idea of what the City plans for this area. Preliminary work has begun opening up some areas and planting new trees. Read about the plan at: http://engage.eugene-or.gov/airliepark.
We'll start our hike from the east end of the upper parking lot at LCC. Watch this space for more details.
NOTE: We will be hiking part of the time OFF TRAIL in an area that has been recently logged, so the ground is uneven and difficult to walk on with hidden hazards. The City warns that there is poison oak and wood ticks in this area.

Trip Report

A sunny day. Dave provided us with copies of the City's plan diagram for the park. The first part of the hike took us past huge slash piles on logged over land. We visited the chimney and cellar ruins of an old residence, then hiked a trail through the area designated as mountain bike park. Returning by a road under the power line, we took the trail designated as the only hiker-only trail not built to accessibility standards in the park.
