Description:

Western Pond Turtle Action with McKenzie River Trust. Details: We will meet at 8:30 at the Park & Ride and carpool to Green Island. From 9-12 we will be helping to protect native Western Pond Turtle habitat on Green Island with the Trust. For this project, we will be helping to ensure that there is usable nesting grounds on this 1200-acre conservation site. Western Pond Turtle habitat is critical in protecting and ensuring populations of this threatened species (which is up for Endangered Species Listing in Oregon). We will be helping the Trust to provide the best possible conditions for these iconic Willamette Valley turtles.
