Description:

An easy walk on the Middle Fork Trail starting at Doris Ranch, proceeding to the cutoff to the Mill Race Trail and returning through old growth forest and historic Doris Ranch.

Trip Report

Five hikers, undaunted by fog and eager for a hike, enjoyed a saunter along the river. As the fog cleared the group decided to go all the way to Clearwater landing (increasing our walking distance from 6 to 8 miles) where we enjoyed a snack by the river. There was lively, socially distanced chatter as we all marveled at the clear air and the feeling of fall in the air. We returned through the patch of old growth on the South end of Doris Ranch. As we walked through the orchards Darko used his handy Swiss army knife to crack the shells of filberts on the ground so we could sample tasty hazelnuts. We saw deer, raptors, ducks and numerous Homo sapiens out enjoying the morning.
