Mt Pisgah Sunset/Moonrise (long)

Description:

Look for us by my car, two or three rows down from the fee box at the gate. We start hiking at 3:30pm. This is a long hike to backside of Pisgah. It takes two hours and 15 minutes at a moderate space to get to the top!. The sunset is 5:56 and moonrise is 5:21. We will take Trail 7 to Trail 4 DOWN to Trail 2 and then up 800 ft elevation on the east side. Look for us by my car, one or two rows down from the fee box. Email me at jbjacobsen@comcast.net if you have questions. If it is raining, we could opt for a shorter hike. If there is a wait list, we can recruit an assistant leader to help with two groups.

Trip Report

The rain held off but the clouds lingered covering up the moonrise at 5:21.Thus we also didn't linger on top but headed down while it was still light,, and we could enjoy the sunset colors in the western sky. Because of last minute work meetings, Gordon Sayre started the later on a shorter route and made to the top at 5:15. We must have just missed connecting with him.
