Nickerson Loop Snowshoe

Description:

The trailhead located across from Clear Lake. This trip is on both roads and trails. If we are lucky there is a great view of the Three Sisters. It is just a nice snow shoe trip.

Trip Report

No snow at Nickerson Loop. So the first snow worth mentioning is at Potato Hill. We moved on to Ray Benson where we did the south half of the South Loop. This was 6 miles of rolling country with views of Mt Washington and Three Fingered Jack. It was perfect spring snow with a temperature of 39-40degrees. We had lunch under a blue sky with lots of sun. We arrived back at the cars only to discover that the leader who has 2 blue jacks had put her keys and phone in one jacket and locked in the car. Because of Covid and 2 passengers 3 windows were down about an inch or so. The Leader k forgot to roll the up. So after some hand ringing and attempts at using ski poles to retrieve jacket we had a skier who works for forest service offer use an avalanche probe and stiff piece of wire. So from one window we used the probe to lift jacket so the the ski pole could pull it toward back window so Lisa could get her fingers on it and pull through window. After that we all got to go home.
