Description:

Park at the Martin Street Trailhead for the Ridgeline Trail near Frank Kinney Park. We'll hike up to the summit and back completing about 6 miles and 1500 feet of elevation. I'm planning to use a weighted pack (recommend 20-40lbs in your pack if you want to use training weight), but you're welcome to hike without weight.

Trip Report

Our group met at the Martin Street Trailhead and hiked up to the summit of Spencer Butte. Participants carried varying amounts of training weight and maintained a brisk pace in preparation for upcoming mountaineering trips. The weather was perfect for an evening hike and the summit view was beautiful across the valley and all the way to the cascade peaks. We returned along the same route back to the trailhead and made it back to our cars well before sunset. Members: Matt Bell, Jennifer Marlow, Gordon Sayre, Karen Yoerger. Non-members: Doug Sandburg.
